Understandably, not every family can be a foster family, but every family can be a part of loving foster families. This is what Kingdom’s Kloset (KK) is doing by being a resource for immediate needs when a child is placed unexpectedly or on an emergency basis in a foster home. KK works with the Michigan Department of Human Services as a referral agency for Monroe County.
Parents who foster care are amazingly selfless. They do what they do from deeply held convictions that all children matter and all children deserve to be cared for. The unfortunate fact in our world is that some children are not properly cared for. There are a variety of reasons a child will be removed from a dangerous home environment and these foster families will benevolently sacrifice for the “least of these.”
The Bible is filled with commands to care for the parentless. James 1:27 tells us that this is pure religion. Isaiah 1:17, God implores the people to take up the cause of the fatherless because we learn in Psalm 68:5, that this is what God does. As a church, we have undeniably been challenged to take up this cause that is so near to God Himself.
Kingdom’s Kloset is a way in which we, as a church, can love and support children in the foster system and the families that are answering the call to care for them.
KK is accepting donations of :
New or very gently used clothes and shoes of all ages and sizes
New small stuffed animals (no other toys)
Hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, deodorant, lice treatment
Infant care supplies such as diapers (no formula or baby food)
All sizes of new bedding
Grocery or pharmacy gift cards
And monetary donations.
Please make sure all items are sanitary and clean.
Currently we are in most need of infant care items such as diapers and wipes. We are also in need of Kroger and pharmacy gift cards to help families that have foster children with emergency needs.
