Mission

Our mission answers the question, "Why are we here?  What are we supposed to be doing?"  Jesus clearly defines the mission of His church.  We call this the Great Commission and it is to make disciples and followers of Jesus throughout the whole earth.  We can read it in Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-49; and Acts 1:8.

Therefore, New Life’s mission is : To make and mature disciples of Christ, in SE Michigan, NW Ohio, and all the world.

Why are we here? What are we supposed to be doing?

Vision

Vision is what the mission looks like when we live it out.  It paints a picture of what it looks like when we are accomplishing the mission.  Just like Jesus clearly defines His church's mission, He also gives a clear vision for His church in Matthew 16:13-20.  It is a vision of mission and action!  New Life's vision is faithful to Jesus' vision.  It is a vision of mission and action!

Our vision is also faithful to our history as a church.  One of the early prophetic words spoken at our inception was, “These walls will drip with love.”

That has been a word that has been echoed through the years and has given us hope and direction.  This word, along with Jesus' vision in Matthew 16, has inspired our current vision statement :

Loving Down Walls; Up, In and Out.

  • Up - We are a church called to love down walls that may exist between people and Jesus.  This speaks to our worship.
  • In - We are a church called to love down walls that may exist between one another.  This speaks to our fellowship.
  • Out - We are a church called to love down walls that may exist between people and Jesus' body; His church.  This speaks to our witness.
